*Assistant Shop Manager - Commercial Fleet*

*Position Summary: *
* Assisting in the day-to-day maintenance and repair management of a commercial fleet of Class A/B and equipment.Responsible for routine commercial truck preventive maintenance and diagnosing potential equipment failures prior to operational failure. Have knowledge and experience with commercial Diesel trucks heavy and automotive systems.
* We are looking for a management minded individual that has tools and willingness to jump right in to help to complete the task at hand.

*Physical Requirements*
* Must have the ability to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 75 pounds.
* Requires reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing onto and under a variety of equipment.
* Must be able to work outside during all four seasons in a variety of conditions.

*Position Functions & Responsibilities*
* Manage workload with Shop Manager and foreman.
* An individual is a team player to work with a group able to organize to lead and not follow.
* Assistance that has a wide range of experience with various types of equipment and trucks and Willing to teach other Technicians.
* Utilizes inventory software and equipment monitoring for preventative maintenance needs.
* Performs minor and moderate repairs as needed.
* Diagnoses and repairs with limited supervision.
* Maintains personal and shop tools in good working order.
* Works with specifications, and service manuals.
* Complies with all company safety procedures, Osha, Msha and adheres to all shop and operating procedures as applicable.
* Perform skilled tasks in the diagnosis of malfunctions, repairs, preventive maintenance, adjustments, and overhauls as needed.
* Use OEM software, tools, and technologies to maintain, diagnose, and complete repairs to promptly address and resolve vehicle or equipment concerns.
* Work with team to ensure work area in a safe, orderly, and clean manner.
* Maintain open communication with the shop manager, parts manager regarding job/repair status updates and changes.
* Safely operate all types of commercial/passenger vehicles, forklifts, and equipment.

*Required Skills/Abilities*
* Flexibility and mechanical ability are a requirement.
* Initiative-taker is able to work with limited supervision.
* Mechanical skills.
* Valid CDL Driver’s License and clean driving record.
* Basic computer skills. The use of Microsoft Office and service software will be required to complete service reports and provide details to work orders.
* The ability to project a professional positive image.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to write service reports that accurately report the diagnosis and repairs performed. Must document work orders, parts lists in an accurate and timely manner.
* Familiar with fleet maintenance programs to maintain stock and vehicle records.
* Familiar with Oxygen-Acetylene cutting, metal inert gas welding and fabrication.

*Education/Experience Requirements*
* High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
* 5yrs. year minimum verifiable supervision experience.
* Minimum 10yrs. Commercial Fleet Maintenance Experience.
* Knowledge of shop tools and knowledge of diesel, gas on road and off-road equipment preferred.
* Commercial Driver license Required.
