Shield AI's mission is to protect the lives of service members and civilians with intelligent systems. The Hardware Test Engineering team contributes to this effort by designing test solutions that drive high hardware reliability on both V-BAT vehicle and our next generation aircraft. These solutions are in-house designed electrical and mechanical equipment used to perform component and system-level testing, both at ambient and in simulated harsh environmental conditions. In this role, you will design test stands for jet engines and accessories, production tooling, perform thermal analyses, design mechanical test fixtures, and gain experience with HASS, ESS, and HALT testing. • Create fixturing, tooling, and parts for testing jet engines.
  • Design tooling to hold devices-under-test (DUTs) during environmental testing.
  • Design test stands and test fixtures that interface with engines, actuators, electric motors, circuit boards, and various other aeronautical components.
  • Specify facilities requirements (electrical, plumbing, etc.) for environmental test chambers, engine test stands, etc.
  • Contribute to and attend cross-functional design reviews. Advocate for design changes that result in simpler testing processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field.

  • Demonstrated history of showing ownership of project outcomes and delivering exceptional results.
  • Record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to rapidly manufacture your designs in a machine shop.
  • Experience working on jet engines.
  • Experience designing facilities systems that utilize liquid nitrogen including storage, plumbing, and replenishment.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, agility, and the ability to innovate under pressure to meet dynamic project demands and drive successful outcomes.
